Stacie...I agree with everything you say. But I do also agree with Baseball guy on the need for some kind of structured mandate related to pitch count, mostly because coaches too often either will not understand the need for them, or will simply disregard them in their quest for more trophies. Further, I'd really like to see them in softball. Science has completely dispelled the myth that the windmill motion is safer than baseball's motion. Even more pressing, even today softball pitchers are being asked to pitch more than baseball pitchers EVER were. It's inexcusable that pitchers are throwing 2-300 pitches in a day, and then coming back to do the same or more the next day. 30-40 innings in a week is common, with multiple bullpens in between. I think it is time to start pressing governing bodies in softball to institute pitch count/inning count restrictions.

Hello Web Admin, I noticed that your On-Page SEO is is missing a few factors, for one you do not use all three H tags in your post, also I notice that you are not using bold or italics properly in your SEO optimization. On-Page SEO means more now than ever since the new Google update: Panda. No longer are backlinks and simply pinging or sending out a RSS feed the key to getting Google PageRank or Alexa Rankings, You now NEED On-Page SEO. So what is good On-Page SEO?First your keyword must appear in the title. Then it must appear in the URL.You have to optimize your keyword and make sure that it has a nice keyword density of 3-5% in your article with relevant LSI (Latent Semantic Indexing). Then you should spread all H1,H2,H3 tags in your article.Your Keyword should appear in your first paragraph and in the last sentence of the page. You should have relevant usage of Bold and italics of your keyword. There should be one internal link to a page on your blog and you should have one image with an alt tag that has your keyword....wait there's even more Now what if i told you there was a simple Wordpress plugin that does all the On-Page SEO, and automatically for you? That's right AUTOMATICALLY, just watch this 4minute video for more information at. <a href="http://www.wordpress-subscribers.info" rel="nofollow">WordPress Seo Plugin</a>

Richard,

Thanks for stopping by! I didn't want to offend you in any way. I have a lot of respect for your baseball expertise and everything you do online for coaches and members of the baseball community. I can't wait to see your next challenge! :) I know there has been a lot of thought and research going into pitch count. I just worry about those who only use the game and nothing else and don't take the time the understand the science behind it like you do (not that they'd go to the lengths that you would to grasp it all, but they should at least make some attempt) yet use it as their strict rule. It's always great to have other perspectives brought to light especially when they are as strong as yours because it gives people like me a chance to see and consider a few things we hadn't thought of before and make "adjustments" to our opinions.

While we may have different perspectives to the degree in which we "obsess" about pitch count, I think we BOTH agree that player safety/interest should be one of the things a coach should keep in the forefront of his/her mind.

Stacie, Stacie - I have no problem with you naming me as the "baseball guy" even when you proceed to say why I'm wrong. There is both science and pseudo-science around all sports and in leagues which impose pitch count there is no hard evidence to determine that, say, 115 pitches is okay for all pitchers or that 120 is too much, or that 95 is not going to cause injury. As to the boy/girl thing well, bones don't mature in general until 16+ in most kids (I'd say of either sex). I think though that you've given me an idea for our next "challenge".
