Softball Fundraiser: 1st Time I Heard of this One

softball fundraiser: wine tastingInteresting.  I was browsing the internet for some interesting softball news and this small article about a softball fundraiser caught my eye. Los Gatos High School girls softball program is holding a 1st annual wine tasting later this month to raise funds for their program. Now, I’ve never been to a wine tasting, (though I have friends that go regularly to these things) but I’d certainly check it out for a softball fundraiser!

Sounds like a pretty fun fundraiser if you ask me. This particular one also includes appetizers and live music – so cool!

I hope it goes well for them.

Have you heard of any unique softball fundraisers recently? If so, please leave a comment below and share them here.  I’m sure many programs out there are looking for ideas for the upcoming season.

Fun Way to Raise Money for Your Team

mmAs I see all the fastpitch news popping up on Google News searches: fastpitch state tournaments here, qualifier tournaments there, I am reminded to let you know about a great way to raise funds for your team!  This fundraiser is a smash hit at softball tournaments.

Fundraising is one part of sports that not many get a kick out of, but sometimes it’s necessary!

If you’re looking to raise funds in the next 2-4 weeks, please let me know. Jessica Jobes of Mitt Mate just told me that she’s ramping up her new fundraising program and is looking for teams and organizations to try it out.

I know many out there are either just starting their season or going into tournaments soon. Like I mentioned, tournaments are a great place to raise money with Jessica’s Mitt Mates. They’re fun, fresh, and can actually be used by anybody, not just softball players (people are using them on gloves, equipment bags, school bags, luggage, and more).

If you don’t know what Mitt Mates are or have never heard of them before, check out the short video I did on them.

Then if you’re looking to raise some cash for your team or organization, let me know so that I can get you hooked up with Jessica and set your team or organization up with one of the most unique softball fundraisers out there. Plus Jessica will do everything she can to provide you with all you need to have a successful fundraiser!

Fastpitch Talk Radio & Fundraising

Hey, just dropping in to let you know that I just put up a new episode of Fastpitch Talk Radio. This episode is about reducing parent conflict and about how to reduce your stress during the season by preparing better.

Listen in, it’s free! Just go to www.FastpitchTalkRadio.com.

Now, on to fundraising…

There has been quite a bit of talk about fundraising recently. You may even be looking for some cool fundraising ideas. Sooooo, I have 2 fundraising ideas for you.

1. Raffle off gas cards
Pretty self eplanatory: buy gas cards and raffle them off. I’d probably stick with $50 cards.

2. Do a Dessert Tasting
This weekend I was at a “end of the season” potluck and there were some delicious desserts! I thought it would be cool to do a “dessert tasting” fundraiser. Now, keep in mind, I’ve never done one before, but I think it would be soooooo cool. Have families make their favorite desserts (or see if you can have local bakeries or stores donate a dessert or two) and have a dessert tasting or dessert buffet fundraiser. I’m sure you could charge a flat rate at the door for “all you can eat” OR charge per dessert tasted/eaten. Be creative and think of ways to make it fun and enjoyable for everyone. I’m sorry, but I just loooooove good old sweet tasting desserts! I know I’d certainly make it a point to attend a dessert fundraiser. If you need some easy dessert recipes for ideas, check out www.MyEasyDessertRecipes.com. It’s a project my daughter is working on and she’s about to post some VERY simple fruit dessert ideas later this week.

Brakettes May Have to Forfeit 2009

With 28 Fastpitch National Championships, the Brakettes are one of the nation’s best fastpitch softball teams. This Connecticut team won 59 of 62 games this season and have won 5 of the last 7 ASA National Championships. However due to financial issues the Brakettes may have to forfeit the entire 2009 season.

City officials are hoping the town can help the 62-year-old team out, but they’re doubtful that taxpayers will be able to bail the team out of their funding problems. Read the full story at News Times.

Raise Team Funds with Softball Today

Eek! Fundraising! I’ve done quite a bit this year myself. Often times it’s the same old thing. Although this year I did do a couple of Jamba Juice Fundraisers for the first time ever.

I don’t particularly like fundraising, but I also know how expensive softball can get if you’re paying everything out of pocket. Remember, I’m a coach and I also have 3 daughters who play
too. Between the umpiring fees, league fees, tournament fees, jackets, banquets, pictures, trophies, balls, practice equipment, game equipment…well, you get the idea. This sport is probably not as costly as football, but it’s getting there.

The thing is everyone LOVES football, but not so many people are as eager to support/sponsor softball. BUT, I just heard about a unique, relative fundraiser that teams are using to raise money.

Softball Today offers a fundraiser that gives teams a 50% profit.

There’s even a chance of your team being sponsored by DeMarini if you partner with Softball Today for your fundraising needs. There are no minimums to meet and no money to pay up front. This is not an elite fastpitch magazine only so a variety of softball people can benefit from a subscription (slow pitch, fastpitch, travel, high school, and rec). For more information on working with Softball Today (and your team’s chance to get sponsored by DeMarini) visit http://www.softballtoday.com/fundraisers.asp
