Battle of the Sexes Softball Style
I think this is so cool! I wish I could be there to see it.
TONIGHT the Schaumburg Flyers baseball club, of the independent Northern League will battle the Chicago Bandits, of National Pro FastPitch softball at Alexian Field.
The really cool thing is that it seems like a lot of people will have a chance to see first hand, what the Chicago Bandits can do. While most of their games average under 1,000 spectators a game, this Battle of the Sexes match-up has a chance of selling out the 8,500 capacity field by game time.
I sure hope there’s another article after this game is over that will let us know how it went. While it’s not a true, men’s softball vs women’s softball game – I think it’s great that an NPF team will have a chance to play in front of a big crowd and hopefully spark interest in people who’ve never really watched the pro fastpitch league (or even the game in general) before.

Battle of the sexes……..I live about 15 minutes from the field and i’m bringing my daughter (10 yrs old) to the game this evening. Not sure how the men are going to pitch or what kind of turnout there will be but it should provide some good entertainment. I’ll try and post some highlights of the game tomorrow.
When I left at 9pm the Bandits were up by 2!
I did not have the chance to see the game, but the Bandits won 4-2. By the way, the Flyers opted to bring in some Australian men’s team pitchers, so it was a much more level playing field than most probably expected. Wish I could’ve been there!
This is what I love about softball. Men and women can play equally. I wish that softball has its share of spectators especially women because here is a sport where we can play against the men and there is no big disadvantage.
